This month we recognize someone who’s been a real beauty ever since he started at the gym. He’s been working weaknesses, encouraging Folks HARD and crushing extreme as part of our CrossFit “team”. We’re lucky to have such a sincere, fun and great guy in our gym. This months CrossFitter of the Month is…
Todd!
Here are his answers to some of our Questions!
Name: Todd Gagnon aka Uncle Pickles lol
Age: 36
Occupation: Manager
What was your exercise experience prior to crossfit?
I have always been active. Prior to crossfit I enjoyed playing all sports, specifically hockey and soccer. Through these sports I found training at an early age and have always been hooked. I love to live a healthy active lifestyle and hope to continue for the rest of my life.
How long have you been doing crossfit and why do you choose to crossfit?
I found crossfit in 2009 and like most people, the first workout I did, I thought “I’ll crush this, I’m in shape” hahaha not a chance! I ended up puking in Goodlife and going home – Strong start! That moment was a game changer for me. I did crossfit on my own (not always with purity of movements) and “on occasion” challenging things that scared me, such as handstand holds (no not push ups lol). I came to Crossfit Sudbury this past September and it gave me a whole no view – I was introduced to a play land with amazing people who liked doing what I do. There was no turning back!!
I crossfit because the community and the challenges are just SENSATIONAL! I crossfit because I’m always a better person when I finish.
What is your favorite part about crossfit?
Without a doubt my favorite part about crossfit is the people you are with. Without them it’s not as fun. As Glassman “Coach” would say, combining agony and laughter is a powerful stimulus for developing camaraderie.
What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (Crossfit or non crossfit related)
I am most proud of who am I today! I am proud of being a good son, brother, friend to those around me. I am truly blessed to have amazing people in my life. I have a lot of inner demons, if I didn’t have these people and crossfit to get those out of my system, I would self-destruct. So I am truly Blessed for what I have.
Favorite workout or lift?
I love chippers. I also love the clean and jerk and burpees. 14.5 was my favorite open wod lol
