Hey Folks!

It’s that time again!  This month we’re recognizing someone who is typically quiet about their accomplishments but is putting up some epic scores to the whiteboard.  This CrossFitter is working hard to improve their skills when they’re in the gym, but also knowing when to dial it back for mobility and recovery.  Always a fun person to pace off during WODs and to coach as an athlete.  Novembers CrossFitter of the month is…

Here are his answers to our questions!

Name: Mike Switzer

Age: 26

Occupation: SuperintendentScreenshot_2014-11-27-07-26-09

What was your exercise experience prior to crossfit?

I’ve played sports most of my life. Started off boxing when I was younger and played high school football. I have lifted weights on and off now for 10 plus years.

How long have you been doing crossfit and why do you choose to crossfit?

I started crossfit this past August which puts me a good 4 months in now. I love crossfit for how challenging every workout is. I love the fact that you can do some basic stuff like pull ups and bench press then go climb a rope in the same gym.

What is your favorite part about crossfit?

My favorite part about crossfit is how hard it is, not only for me but for everyone who is there. Everyone in the gym always gives it their all and is cheered on by everyone else; you don’t get that in any other gym.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (Crossfit or non crossfit related)

Some of my best accomplishments crossfit related would be my first bar muscle up and doing a 200 lb snatch. Although I need more work on both of those I am happy to have hit those goals so soon.

Favorite workout or lift?

My favorite lift 2 months ago would have been the clean, but now I prefer the snatch more.

Anything else you would like to share please feel free

I appreciate all the support you get from everyone in the gym and the motivation that comes with it. I also would like to say thanks to everyone who helps out with teaching me the skills and technique with everything crossfit, every little bit helps. Thanks!

Thanks Mike for your handwork and for brining great energy into the gym every time you come!
p.s. Mike has been crushing the oly lifts since working with John at the CrossFit Sudbury Olympic Weightlifting Club.  Check it out – it’s a great way to learn and improve on the lifts!
